Usually, as the year winds down I start to review my ever-growing to-do list and will see what exactly I haven’t gotten around to yet. I’ll scrutinize how long things have sat on the list, why I haven’t mustered the energy to do some of the more important ones, and then I’ll feel like I actually didn’t do anything at all. Scratching my head wondering what did I do for 365 days this year?
I think everyone has felt this in one form or another. It could be mid-year when you realize there are only six months left or it can be New Year’s Eve when you’re trying to start resolutions again. The one thing that we all can probably be better at is patting ourselves on the back more. Even the smallest win is cause for celebration. Here are some of the things that I’m proudest of in 2021:
Accomplishments From This Year
Featured contributor in The Pandemic Post’s Food Issue.
Presenting at NYU/CIA’s Just Food Conference.

Becoming the Leadership Co-Chair for the North American Food Systems Network - I haven’t spoken much about the work I do in food systems or academia, but I promise I will in 2022!
Featured contributor for Remezcla.
Launching my BURNT podcast for paid subscribers. Here’s a snippet of delicious wisdom from Nico Vera from The Peruvian Vegan Kitchen.

What a year worth celebrating, congrats! Thank you, thank you, thank you for mentioning my newsletter which started in February. I’d say that is near the top of my list of accomplishments this year, especially this story: https://borschtforbreakfast.substack.com/p/12-tender-is-the-summer-salad
Cheers to you for an amazing year! It was wonderful to connect with you over food and culture, and thank you for the shout out! 🙌🏾
