Hello All! I miss you! You may be wondering where the hell I've been. Clearly, not in your inboxes. I have been working/cooking non-stop since September, and when you work with your hands for long stretches of time, something is bound to happen. I pinched nerves in both my arms and have hand numbness and tingling that doesn't go away.
My body has slowly been giving me signals to slow down and take on less work, but when you're a freelancer living in NYC with high ass rent due every month, a senior dog, a car that needs gas, bills, etc. (you get the point) you kinda don't know how to stop.
I baked 83 pies in two days for customers right before Thanksgiving, and finally my hands gave up. The first day after I baked the first batch of pies, my right arm fell completely asleep. Feeling came back to my arm after an hour, but my hand never got full feeling again. Imagine having to bake another 40-something pies with zero feeling in your fingers the next day?! 😵💫🤯
Due to overwhelming bouts of pain and continual numbness in my hands, I've decided to take a break from my newsletter till January 2023. I'm sad to take a break, but I'm finally listening to my body's cry for rest.
If you're new around here, welcome! Check out my archive and catch up on my Eating A-Z in NYC series (next country we visit is Colombia!).
If you're not a newbie, hey, old friend! You can look forward to some new delicious bites of Eating A-Z, some exciting cookbook news (which I still can't divulge yet 😑), a belated celebration of Food For Thought. turning 2🎉!, and new adventures for the newsletter.
I promise to come back stronger, rested, and hungrier! Looking forward to eating in the name of "research" for you guys!
P.S. here’s at least one pic of something I’ve eaten lately…
Cook. Rest. Eat. Repeat.
Love y'all 💗✨
Natalie

Oh gosh Natalie, so sorry to hear this. I hope you get a well-reserved rest during the holiday season and come back stronger than ever. Sending virtual hugs.
